Ayurvedic Practitioner
Dr. Mahesh Jayathilaka-Ayurvedic Practitioner
Dr. Mahesh Jayathilaka is a qualified and experienced Ayurvedic medical practitioner with extensive clinical experience and a strong commitment to helping people achieve better health through authentic Ayurvedic medicine.
He completed his Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS) at the University of Colombo, Sri Lanka, after five years of comprehensive academic training in Ayurvedic philosophy, diagnostics, pharmacology, clinical medicine, anatomy, physiology, and patient care. Following graduation, he successfully completed a one year compulsory internship at government Ayurvedic hospitals in Sri Lanka, where he gained valuable hands on experience treating a wide range of acute and chronic conditions under the supervision of senior Ayurvedic consultants.
After completing his internship, Dr. Mahesh practised as an Ayurvedic doctor in Sri Lanka for nearly four years. During this time, he established his own medical centre, MAHESHAYURVEDA, where he treated thousands of patients with conditions including back pain, neck and shoulder pain, sports injuries, joint disorders, chronic musculoskeletal conditions, lifestyle-related illnesses, and general wellness concerns. His approach focuses on understanding each individual's prakruti (body constitution), dosha balance, agni (digestive and metabolic strength), and overall health rather than applying a one size fits all treatment model. He believes that every patient deserves personalised care tailored to their unique needs.
Alongside his medical career, Dr. Mahesh has also pursued legal education. He completed his Bachelor of Laws (LLB) in 2024, demonstrating his dedication to lifelong learning and professional development. After migrating to Australia, he further expanded his legal knowledge by completing a Certificate III in Legal Services (Paralegal), gaining practical insight into the Australian legal system.
Although he has qualifications in both medicine and law, Dr. Mahesh's true passion has always been Ayurveda. He finds genuine fulfilment in helping people recover from pain, improve their quality of life, and regain their health naturally. Seeing patients return to the activities they enjoy and experience meaningful improvements in their wellbeing is what motivates him every day.
After moving to Australia, Dr. Mahesh continued his professional journey by becoming a registered practitioner with the Australasian Association of Ayurveda (AAA). He now combines years of international clinical experience with an understanding of the Australian healthcare environment, providing authentic Ayurvedic care that is safe, ethical, and patient centred.
Today, MAHESHAYURVEDA has evolved into MAYU, continuing the same values of trust, compassion, quality, and genuine healing. Through MAYU, Dr. Mahesh provides personalised Ayurvedic consultations and treatments, helping patients manage pain, restore balance, and improve their overall wellbeing using the time tested wisdom of Ayurveda, delivered with professionalism, integrity, and care.
